Following the success of the 2010 and 2011 “Chip In” Golf Tournaments, Outreachers was pleased to hold its 2012 tournament at The Club at Flying Horse in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on September 17, 2012. Kicking off with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start, the tournament took the form of four-person scrambles playing at what has been named one of the top 10 private courses in Colorado. Proceeds from the tickets, which started at $300 for individual golfers and $2,500 for foursomes, are being used help children in need at Casa Angelina in Guatemala and at Colorado Springs’ own Rocky Mountain Kids.

While the United States contains a diverse range of exciting mountains and pleasant ski resorts, Vail, Colorado, may be the crown jewel of the American skiing community. With more than 5,000 acres of skiing available, Vail Mountain is the country’s biggest ski resort, accessible via three base communities: Golden Peak, Vail Village, and Lionshead.
While the front side of Vail Mountain serves skiers looking for broad, lengthy runs on well-groomed powder, it also acts as the resort’s hub for dining and non-skiing fun, including mountain dining restaurants and the Kid’s Adventure Zones. The Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin, located elsewhere on the mountain, offer miles of skiing for experts. Beginners can benefit from Vail Mountain’s Ski and Snowboard School, which offers private and group lessons for every age and skill level.

Rocky Mountain Kids operates several homes for children who have suffered neglect or abuse. Two of the homes have served young adults for more than a decade. Future Bound, a home for girls between the ages of 12 and 18 in Colorado Springs, has aided more than 150 individuals since its inception. The second, Nevada House, focuses on boys between the ages of 15 and 18. The home has helped more than 250 young men emancipate themselves from abusive situations and take control over their lives. The newest home, the eight-bed Drew’s Place, also serves boys in Fountain, Colorado. The organization concentrates on teaching these children how to make positive choices with an emphasis on education. Many of the residents continue their education beyond high school at colleges and trade schools.
